This Ragini is represented as a young and beautiful damsel, passionately in love but separated from her lover, wandering about in the forest. Her youthful form is dressed a long pleated skirt and a short choli with a transparent odhini. She's adorned with pearl ornaments in her neck, ears and head. Bangles and gold anklets decorate her hands and feet, which are also beautified by henna. The body is lissome, the face soft and delicate, the curves emphasized further by the loop of her odhini across her body in front. Noticeable is the treatment of her face which does not show much modeling. An antelope looks up at her and she returns the gaze inclining her head slightly forward. She stretches a dainty hand to caress the animal. The rendering is touching because of its simplicity and the clarity with which the painter draws parallel between the charming eyes of the deer and the Ragini.
The composition is simple; it is the coloring which gives to the painting such a poetic, unearthly air.
