Miniature painting is as unique in composition as Bundi school of art is unique in its choice of subject matter. In Indian art, generally, the symbolic level is always more important. The depicted surface reality always very strongly imply some general statement. Spiritual and emotional matter is not the foremost in this miniature and what takes its place is a sincere interest in the subject matter itself.

The organization of compositional elements in depicting this miniature is simple and clear. The artist's intention is mainly to make the composition interesting, so he has concentrated on the main theme and colour. The lady here is seated next to a bolster, although she is not leaning against it. She is playing the veena - a perfect example of visual expression. The artist has tried to give expression to the things which convey hidden feelings. He tries the same with the help of lines. Here, the felt lines are more important than seen lines.

On her broad forehead are arched eyebrows and narrow long eyes. The straight nose ends where full lips begin. She is wearing a short mustard colored choli and an onion pink, long, embroidered ghaghra. A transparent odhini covers her head and her back. Her long dark hair fall curlingly over her back. She is bedecked in pearls and gold ornaments. The lady is playing the veena with full concentration. The fixture of her gaze and the placement of her hands bear witness to hilt. The bottom half of the veena is shaped like a swan and seems superbly crafted. Thin straight lines at hair's breath depict the strings so well.

The background consists of the sky lightly defined with horizontal registers in tints of yellow and grey. The foreground is done in green with precisely painted little tufts of grass. To encase the composition, leaves and stems spring out from the two sides.
