Krishna played an important role in the religious social and cultural life of India and his life stories have attracted the artists and craftsmen in all ages. Using the artform of batik as his medium of expression, the artist here has depicted the divine lovers in scenic surroundings..

It is uncommon to find the images of Radha and Krishna together without conveying a sensual mood. In this picture, although they each look different ways, a languorous and highly charged mood pervades. Radha has come to the river to fill her urn with water. Krishna intercepts her and they both sit under a tree with Krishna playing the flute to please her. Krishna is shown in profile wearing a turban with a sarpech along with his favourite peacock feather. He wears rings in his ears and strands of beads hang down his neck. His yellow dhoti with a green waist band is well contrasted. The long, flowing shoulder cloth is balanced on his right upper arm as he is preoccupied playing the flute. Radha is dressed in a simple choli and a ghagra with a pale coloured odhini. She wears abundant, yet simple jewellery. Looking sideways, she makes an effort to adjust her odhini that has gone astray. The urn lies next to her, unfilled, symbolizing that their love still remains unconsummated.

The background and the foreground have been left uncluttered in order to let the twin images enjoy all the glory.
