Of the various activities visualised by Vedanta Bharati for the propagation of Sri Shankara Bhagavatpada’s divine message and philosophy for the benefit of common people, a significant one is the week-long programme in Bangalore Shankara Sandesha Saptaha.
In connection with this Saptaha programme from 18 December to 24 December 2000 at over 100 centres all over Bangalore city, we cherished a desire to bring out a short and succinct book on the Bhagavatpadas life, works and philosophy. Fortunately for us, the great and erudite scholar, Vidwan Shri N. Ranganatha Sharma happily agreed to our request to prepare such a book in Kannada. The time available for the task was very short; but Shri Ranganatha Sharma achieved it and helped us realise our dream. Vedanta Bharati is grateful to him indeed. Yugapurusha Shankara is the title ‘of the book.
This is the English rendering of ‘Yugapurusha Sharikara’. The translation has been ably handled by Shri H.N. Narasimhiah of Bangalore, a sincere devotee of Sri Sri Shankara Bharati Swamiji.
The publication of this English title has been made possible with the financial support extended by Shri R. Shiva Rao of Canada and Shri A.P Shanta Ram of Bangalore and Shri U. Prabhakar Rao of Delhi. The printing of the book has been completed in record time. Thanks to Vagartha Printers for their elegant printing in time. May Acharya Shankara shower His blessings on all these devotees and protect them.
Vedanta Bharati enjoys the blessings of its Chief Patron Sri Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Bharati Teertha Mahaswamiji of Dakshinamnaya Sharada Peetha of Sringeri. Our prostrations to Him in all humility.
The patron of Vedanta Bharati and its guiding spirit Sri Sri Sri Shankara Bharati Swamiji has been the life-giving force in all the activities of the organization in the propagation of Vedantic Philosophy and Vedic research. Our prostrations to Him in full surrender.
