About the Book "In the ruins of Mandu, the walls of bricks and bodies have fallen, but the love of Baaz Bahadur and Roopmati has survived. I find it a fascinating haunt. While driving from Bombay to northern India, Mandu was always my favourite place to halt for the night. Though Mandu has fallen prey to noisy touristy attractions in recent times, the ruins still haunt me as lovers' rendezvous. When I was writing this song (Naam gum jayega), the location was very much alive in my mind. Later I pasteurized it there.

About the Authors A graphic designer by profession, Ankita did her graduation from National Institute of Design, Ahmadabad and Masters in Visual Communication from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. She is also an avid nature lover and a budding ornithologist.

Building upon his pioneering work, Hushing successors left no stone unturned in adding to the pomp and grandeur of the expanding metropolis, The culmination of this magnificence was reached under Ghiyath Shah who added new treads of artistic and cultural sophistication in prevailing fibers of architectural and military excellence, This led to creation of a human settlement - unique, diverse and rich - that would surpass fame and grandeur of any other in the whole world, Shaadiabad - literally the city of joy - was the name given to this opulent human settlement where new heights were reached in spheres of architecture, art and culture, If the architects of Shaadiabad gave us the first edifice of white marble in the Indian Sub-continent, the painters of Ghiyath Shah left us myth the exquisitely crafted Nimatnama - probably the first illustrated cook book in the world. It was the congeniality of Shaadiabads air that worked as a prelude for the legendary romance between Baz Bahadur and Roopmati The songs still reverberates through the region and so does the story about Roopmati's heroic sacrifice for her love? No one could have ever imagined that luster of this city of opulence would ever diminish but destiny had a different script altogether.
