Sacred spaces are portals to an elevated state of consciousness. They deepen one's connection to the Higher Power and catalyse personal transformation. The Art of Living Ashram in Bangalore is one such paradise on Earth where the presence of Divine Energy is undeniably palpable. This book offers a fleeting glimpse of the enigmatic arrival of benevolent forces on the ashram grounds and how it became their home.
In the early 1980s, the Bangalore Ashram was founded on the principles of Advaita to provide a nurturing environment for spiritual seekers at all levels. There was no intent to house any idols. Over the years, the Ashram gained global recognition for enabling profound, transformative experiences through its deep spiritual practices, meditations and satsangs, attracting millions of people annually. It has been a haven of serenity and freedom for meditators, seekers, high achievers, the weary, and the restless.
Surprisingly, through a series of intriguing coincidences, this bastion of pure Advaita, has mysteriously become home to a wide array of idols representing various gods and goddesses, none of which were acquired or created by the Ashram. The ethereal appears to have forged a bond with the physical realm in this place in a manner that defies explanation by the rational mind. It is often said that nothing in this vast Creation occurs by chance; everything is intricately woven into a grand design. How the various idols found their way into the Ashram is a captivating story we share in the following pages.
