This book is not to tell the world that for decades, the International Cricket has been nothing but a continuous hoax on the unsuspecting masses, though that will get repeated through this book. That was done years ago through earlier books, press conferences by me. The issue has continuously been highlighted for years through similar and more painstaking efforts including the filing of a successful PIL (public interest litigation) in the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India. That has been a fait accompli now. If the world still remains largely unaware, it has to ask questions of itself or the media it has created and has been nurturing to keep itself informed. This book is to convey something much beyond, much deeper-and that something will sink into any intelligent reader by the time he finishes reading this book, hopefully even if one doesn't have much open mind to start with.
What is so openly happening in cricket and is well proven; in all probability should be happening more or less in football and other sports of the world also that are open to betting. The purpose of this book is to make us realise what we are in reality-deep down-under the façade of being just, righteous, cultured and civilised. That realisation should not come as a result of someone's word, someone saying so, but from the churning of facts-hard facts-in our conscious and subconscious mind, of our own volition. Those facts have been there all along for years, but unknown to the majority, or lying neglected by those who knew-discarded because these were unpalatable, neglected because their minds conditioned by vested interests failed to value these. It is being attempted to present those facts at a place now through this book, along with my commentary, for ready reference and critical examination of the public, the intelligentsia, and for posterity.
The realisation of the truth is the first prerequisite for us to make any honest efforts to raise ourselves up, from being just manipulated numbers; but it is not going to be easy, given our evolution, and given how difficult it is for a man to shed his conceit, and how near impossible it is for him not to be a hypocrite. Yet I have no option but to continue trying till I breathe and till my faculties work.
