Book Description
Foreward

It gives me great pleasure to present to the world of scholars, this reprint of the second volume of the Vişnudharmottarapurana, Khanda III. containing a detailed study as Introduction, Appendices and Indices etc. by Dr. Ms. Priyabala Shah, which was published as Gaekwad's Oriental Series No. 137. The Volume 1, comprising the text of the Visnudharmottarapurana, Khanda III and critical notes forming the G.O.S. No. 130 has already been reprinted in 1994.

Both the volumes were out of stock for a long time and were in great demand from scholars the world over. The volume incorporates valuable information about ancient Indian music, dance, dramaturgy. painting, architecture, sculpture and all such performing & fine arts in ancient India. It is hoped that this reprint will be well-received by scholars and students in these fields.

I am grateful to the University Authorities for releasing the necessary grant towards the reprinting of this volume. I also thank Shri P.N. Srivastava (Manager. M. S. University Press) and his colleagues for their co-operation in bringing out this reprint.
