Forty years ago, the Guardian predicted that a time would come when,
"The perversion of human nature, the degradation of human conduct, the corruption and dissolution of human institutions, (would) reveal themselves... in their worst and most revolting aspects" and when "the voice of human conscience is stilled, the sense of decency and shame obscured". (Shoghi Effendi, World Order of Baha'u'llah, p. 187) The Universal House of Justice has told us that:
"Among the signs of moral downfall in the declining social order are the high incidence of violence within the family, the increase in degrading and cruel treatment of spouses and children, and the spread of sexual abuse." (The Universal House of Justice to an individual believer, 24 January, 1993)
This compilation was born of my personal belief that the solution to all of the world's problems could be found in the Writings of the Baha'i Faith. As I began to work through the violence and abuse that took place in my own childhood, it was the Writings that helped to put it all into perspective, and greatly facilitated my healing process.
