This cook book is a cookery book with a motive - of practical cooking. Here the author offers recipes that in a way combine good health with good taste.
With the world knitting into one e-mailed, intranet-joined family, & most of us returning towards traditionally cooked food, with a tinge of practical easy cooking, this book proves to be a boon. Also with the world turning vegetarian, the non-vegetarian- turned-vegetarian, does not have to compromise on lesser variety & blend food. These recipes are nutritious as well as varying in taste.
Vegilovers Delight had originated in the mind of the author, as the mother of an Indian abroad. So it goes without saying that Indians abroad who longingly look back for food cooked by mothers & grandmothers, are bound to relish these recipes.
The travels abroad of the author also give a cosmopolitan tinge to the Indian curries here. There are also Egyptian, Thai included, in simple easy-to-handle manner. So the global village that we all are living in has graciously been assimilated in the ocean of Indian spices.
Kusum's hobby since a young age to make different dishes has resulted in developing new variety of vegetarian recipes to suit individual tastes. She has carefully chosen the recipes in the book to suit all occasions and to satisfy the need of all individuals.
The author has tried to formulate the recipes keeping in mind that the ingredients of the recipes are available in different parts of the world easily.
The dishes included in the book have been tried, experimented and perfected to meet standards of healthy living, without sacrificing taste and nutrition.
The author has also included a section on "Handy Tips" and "Home Remedies" to make a complete book for everyday requirements. The author sincerely wishes that this book would satisfy your taste buds and give you satisfaction and enjoyment no matter which culture you belong to.
I was born and brought up in a traditional Indian vegetarian family. Being the only daughter, I used to help my mother in preparing vegetarian dishes. Soon, I started to enjoy cooking and regularly experimented with different dishes; which led to developing many new recipes.
Afterwards, I got married in a Marwari family, and learnt a lot of Rajasthani dishes from my mother-in-law. Having lived in Thailand, the Philippines and Egypt. 1 used to make a variety of dishes using local ingredients, which our guests used to enjoy even more then non-vegetarian food. They were surprised to see that so many delicacies could be made in vegetarian food, and used to ask for recipes, since the food was tasty as well as, very healthy.
Encouraged by the demand from our guests and friends, I decided to put all my recipes together and launch a website. The website has been very successful and I have received a positive response.
My son is in the US for his studies. He is also a vegetarian and misses home food. Whenever I visited the States and invited his friends at home, they used to enjoy the vegetarian food very much. Since the students do not have much time to cook, they used to ask for recipes that could be made easily and quickly. My son's friends encouraged me to write a book, which would be handy and a helpful guide for cooking. This tempted me to write Vegilovers' Delight.
After gathering my favourite and popular recipes, I selected the most delicious and healthy ones for this book. These recipes are designed keeping in mind the ingredients that are easily available around the globe, without sacrificing taste and nutrition.
