The present work is the first ever attempt to present all Sandhya and Havana mantras with a scientific significance both in Hindi and English. for the Hindi and English speaking readers to understand the scientific import of the Vedic mantras involved in the ritual of Sandhya and Havana. Hope the readers of Vedic prayers will welcome this new edition and immensely benefit themselves with the scientific import of the mantras involved in Vedic Sandhya and Havana to be performed by followers of Vedas and Arya Samaj regularly.
Although there is no dearth of Sandhya books in shelves of Arya Samaj, but an ardent need was felt since long to present the Sandhya and Havana mantars with their scientific imports and scientific explanations of various rituals involved in performance of Havana. The present work is the first ever attempt to fill up the gap in this direction. In this work, all Sandhya and Havana mantras have been transliterated in Roman script following international scheme of transliteration. This scheme of transliteration has been separately appended in this book, so that readers may not find any difficulty to understand and pronounce the mantras properly. A scientific interpretation of the mantras has also been carried out both in Hindi and English for the Hindi and English speaking readers to understand the scientific significance of mantras involved in the ritual of Sandhya and Havana.
Here it may not be out of context to extend my special thanks to Dr. S.C. Soni, M.D., President of Arya Samaj, Chicago, USA who was a guiding force behind this endeavour. This book is a result of his suggestions and constant persuation.
This book may be treated as a revised edition of the book titled as 'Vedic Prayer' compiled and edited by 'Arya Ratna' Dr. Om Prakash of Burma and published by The Arya Samaj Chicagoland, Illinois, USA. In the present edition, a new scientific translation of all Sandhya and Havana Mantras has been attempted by the author of present lines.
It is earnestly hopped that the Hindi and English speaking readers will be benefitted equally by this book and will be able to perform Havana with proper perspective in their mind.
The first edition of Vedic Prayer edited and compiled by Dr. Om Prakash of Burma was published long back by the Arya Samaj of Chicagoland, Illinois, USA. This edition was received warmly by the lovers of Vedas. Now the book has already gone out of print and there is a need to republish it. As such it was thought that before its republication, the book should be revised and updated with scientific translation of Sandhya and Havana mantras and the scientific significance of rituals involved in Sandhya and Havana. Keeping in view of this fact, Dr. Ravi Prakash Arya, a world renowned Vedic scholar was requested to bring out this books with a scientific translation of the mantras. Dr. Arya conceded to my request immediately and undertook this uphill task.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to Dr. Ravi Prakash Arya ji for the valuable work done by him to bring out this new edition of 'Vedic Prayers' in altogether a new shape and scholarly manner. I hope that the readers of Vedic prayers will welcome this new edition and immensely benefit themselves with the scientific import of the mantras involved in Vedic Sandhya and Havana to be performed by followers of Vedas and Arya Samaj regularly.
