This book was published by GIRI in the year 2023. The book is primarily intended for all Hindu Brahmins to learn and practice Vedic Life Rituals throughout the year. It covers in exhaustive details about the Nitya Karmas and Naimittika Karmas, including the chanting of Vishnu Sahasranama Stotras and also chanting of the desired Veda Mantras everyday. Wide choices of Mantras are provided. The second part of the book discusses the purpose of our life on Earth - the need to attain Brahma Jnana, as well as, Mumukshutva before the end of his/her life, leading to Moksha or no more re-births. Mumukshutva means remembering and thinking of Paramatma only at all times. Other essential karmas necessary to achieve all these life purposes are done by careful day to day healthy living habits leading to healthy 100+ life (poorna ayusu), as well as, getting rid of the arishadvargas and other accumulated bad vasanas of the past lives.
Learning about the Vedic Life Rituals and its consistent practice throughout one's life is strongly emphasized. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE is the secret for success for experiencing Brahma Jnana, Mumukshutva and guaranteed MOKSHA.
The Author worked in the electric utility industry for 45 years in various engineering positions on multi-million-dollar projects. Towards the end of his long engineering career, he authored the engineering manual in the year 2009, "Overhead Transmission Line Design Guide", for use by future practising engineers. After retirement, his interests shifted from engineering to spirituality and eventually translated to a deep desire to produce something useful for people with spiritual interests.
It was a refreshing experience for me to go through the draft copy of the book 'VEDIC LIFE RITUALS' written by Shri G.S. Neelakantan and presented to me by my good friend Shri T. Varadarajan of 'Tambras".
The author has focused on the four Vedas, namely, Rig, Sama, Yajur & Atharvana, and also on the importance of Gayatri Mantram and Sandhya Vandanam. In my personal view, Gayatri Mantram deserves to be learnt by-heart by every one, irrespective of caste or creed, and recited during dawn and dusk, the meeting of darkness and light, welcoming and thanking the Sun God, without whom there is no life.
The Vedas are equally important. Rig Veda clearly says 'aano bhadrah kratavo yantu vishvataha' meaning, 'Let noble thoughts come to us from every side of the Universe'. There can be nothing more SECULAR!
Through 15 chapters, Shri Neelakantan has explained briefly in his compact book, Vedic rituals, the significance of karma, how to be mentally and physically fit, the need for Dana and Dharma, the essence of Brahma Jnana, the meaning of Moksha etc.
I have no doubt in my mind, that those who are fortunate to go through this valuable book, would be greatly benefitted.
