Joy shared is joy doubled". Many of us are extremely fortunate to have come in close contact with the great master, our beloved Gurudev Swami Chinmayanandaji. One thing unique about Him that very many devotees admit today is that he made everybody feel that their relationship with him was very special. All his letters have the stamp of this feature. The love and concern for the devotee blend with the vision and zeal of the missionary. The personal touch of a loving friend goes hand in hand with the impersonal insight of the Vedantic philosopher and guide. The unbelieveably large no. of letters that Gurudev wrote are a testimony to his unending love of people.
"Learn to live like a cracked pot", says Gurudev in one of his letters in the present collection. We are to experience life as it comes, in all its vicissitudes. Yet, again and again, our mind should be made clean of all pride, bitterness, etc. All water leaks out of the cracked pot. It is empty again!
"Don't be emotional like mother, so irritable like father do not overwork as your Swami", Swamiji does not mind confessing his own personality traits. Such are the areas where these letters have a unique value, hard to find in other books. We get a closer glimpse of human being in the divine teacher.
"Sadhana" is the theme of the collection here and I am sure every reader stands to gain immensely by this loving compilation. I congratulate everybody who has worked on this project. May this and more of such works help us all to enrich and ennoble our lives.
