Indian Culture is the one of the richest and most diverse of it's kind. Many Philosophical schools and religious thoughts have emerged from it. The oldest literature available with us are the Vedas. Since far past, the Vedic mantras of Rig, Yajuh, Sama and Atharva were being recited in daily rituals as well as during special worships performed by Vedic people, to fulfill any desire.
The writer has followed the principles of Phonetics of Panini because the opinion of Panini is handed down by tradition in grammar which is common to both Vedic literature as well as Sanskrit language.
The Vedic language was surrounded by other language families. Hence to protect the Vedic texts from the impressions of other languages and unintentional corruptions while recitation, there needed a reason to preserve Vedic texts.
Phonetics is a scientific study of phones. A language has two forms of expression, the first being the spoken form and the second being the written form. Basically Phonetics is concerned with aural activity. 'Aura' means air or atmosphere. Speech is produced by the movement of air within the mouth with the help of the speech organs like tongue, teeth, lips and so on.
Hence the entire phonetics is classified mainly with two characters namely, the mechanism of sound production and classification of linguistic sounds according to it's place of emergence.
The author has presented the history of Phonetics of Paniniya Shiksha which is taught as Vedanga-Shiksha in the traditional Vedic schools.
Hope the readers will feel happy in reading this treatise.
