Vanmayavallari is a compilation of different research articles in Sanskrit authored by Dr. C. Upender Rao, former Chairperson and Associate Professor in special center for Sanskrit studies, J.N.U. on different themes of Sanskrit literature. While presenting the view of comprehensive Sanskrit literature for Sanskrit lovers, it also serves the purpose of presenting research articles to serious scholars of Sanskrit. Vanmayavallari is divided in three chapters. In first chapter articles related to language, literature and culture of Buddhism and Jainism are presented. The second chapter consists of some articles on Sanskrit poetics and literature. Some of the important problems of Sanskrit literature such as establishment of Karuna Rasa and Riti theory are discussed in it. Articles in this chapter also explain the poetic Excellency of some of the important Sanskrit poets of Sanskrit literature such as Kalidasa and Panditaraja. In third chapter Bhoja's extraordinary efforts to strengthen the Sanskrit literature, importance of Yoga and the ancient scientific attitude of Indians are discussed. We hope this book will give a good reading to the Sanskrit lovers.
Dr. C. Upender Rao, Former Chairperson and Associate Professor of Special Center for Sanskrit Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi was born to Smt. Sarojini Devi and Sri Chowduri Gopal Rao on 15th October 1964 in Mahboobnagar of Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Rao studied Sanskrit from his childhood through traditional style and later completed M.A. and M. Phil. in Sanskrit literature and M.A. and Ph.D. in Pali and Buddhist studies. He has preached Sanskrit in Netherlands, Russia and Ukraine under the auspices of Maharishi Vedic University. His initial Sanskrit teaching was started in Hyderabad and later he served as a Head of the department of Sahitya in the Puri Campus of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan and as a State Coordinator of Orissa for Non-formal Sanskrit Education. He organized many Sanskrit Programmes and published books and number of articles.
