Book Description
About the Book
Whatever the doctrines the 'Guru- Panth' has prescribed-specific for the Panth and its adherents, these are endorsed in the Sikh Code of Conduct and Conventions. The Code is an ideological, legal and historically- religious document and its language is quite precise, well-knit and genuinely restrictive. Having probed through the prime texts related with Sikh religion and its ethics and the history for years, this is the most concise text prepared for our convenience, and it is duly approved by the designated 'Guru-Panth'.

The writer has, in this book, carried out the detailed elucidation of this prominent document in a very decent and distinct manner. The writer himself is not a preacher only of the Sikh Code, he is, heart and soul, dedicated also to it. It is such an endeavour of peerless pertinence through which every Gursikh shall be able to see through his own self quite clearly and thus assess for himself as how much seriously he is dedicated to the 'Guru-Panth'.

About the Author
Born on 27 October, 1951 in Ferozepur, Gurbax Singh Gulshan, under family circumstances, took appointment as Granthi in the local gurdwara. He came to Ludhiana in December 1971, from where Singh Sahib Giani Gurdial Singh Ji Ajnoha, Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib, sent him to UK for religious preaching. He has been performing that service continuously since then in foreign lands.

He has to his credit the university-level qualification in Punjabi, English and Persian languages and as well in music also. At the same time, he has, under the aegis of renowned scholars, acquired proficiency in exegesis of Gurbani and Sikh History.

In 1980, he underwent imprisonment in the Panthic Morcha begun from Amritsar for restoring religious propriety of the Meerut gurdwara.

Whereas he is Chief Caretaker of the Gurmat Granthi Sabha, Ludhiana and that of the International Preachers Society, UK, he has been, since 1995, equally well performing the services of a Preacher in Europe as representative of the World Sikh Preachers Organisation, Amritsar.

Foreword
Sikhism is an art of sacred living called Rehat. Gurbani expounds that religion is an eternal phenomenon, which is not restricted by any kind of ritualism and it should be reflected from the behavior of the being. The Guru shows the path of Rehat which is beyond thoughts as it is an experience of the Sacred (Shabada). To maintain sacredness in life, Maryada (religious conduct) is of great importance. Moreover, religious conduct is of more significance for the Sikhs as Sikhism is a societal religion. The founder of the Sikh faith, Guru Nanak has repeatedly emphasized that everyone should be honest and truthful to religion by true conduct. He has created a new persona, called Gurmukh, who is true to the Guru by his or her practice. Guru Nanak says that truth is high but truthful character is higher. Because of that, Guru gives more importance to the Rehat than a Sikh.
