A few words, we believe, are called for in regard to the background of this humble attempt at putting on record the reflections on the Vedas by Sri Anirvan. His critiques on the Vedas include Veda Mimamsa (in three volumes), published during his lifetime by Sanskrit College, Kolkata and Rg-Veda Samhita -Gayatri Mandala (in six volumes) brought out posthumously by Haimavati-Anirvan Veda Vidyalaya Trust, Kolkata. We had the privilege of taking part in a team involved in publishing six volumes of Ga yatri Mandala. The manuscripts were written by Sri Anirvan half a century ago while he was staying for about a decade in the deep Himalayas. As a matter of course, the pages of the manuscripts were badly tattered. We were confronted with an arduous task of retrieving the text for the press. Meanwhile, a miracle did happen and we were blessed with a supportive 'inspiration' from Sri Anirvan. We chanced upon a number of sparkling facts akin to physical sciences of today. The author has uncovered an arcane meaning of the Vedic Suktas. Finally all the volumes came out one after the other excepting volume six. The materials of this volume could not be traced. But, we must admit, the same inspiration' paved the way.
' Conversations and the words of wisdom of Sri Ramakrishna and Sri Ma Sarada have also hinted at this remarkable coherence. Twenty-first century physical sciences are no longer confined to sensory perceptions and reasonings. New vistas are opening up and, in this study, an effort has been made to show the close correspondence between the Vedic thoughts and scientific theories.
