Preface
Tirukkural holds a prime place among the Classical literary works in Tamil. It is the most widely translated non religious literary work of the country in the world. It is the gospel of mankind. It is not for particular cult. It is for all human beings. The ideas expressed in Tirukkural are so universal that even after almost two millenia they are still relevant and revered. The Central Institute of Classical Tamil has taken up the mission of bringing out the Tirukkural in all the Indian Languages in which it has not been done so far. In this series, translations of Tirukkural in Manipuri, and Punjabi have been recently released. The Gujarati translation is now being published. The institute also proposes to launch the e version of this book shortly.
The present volume is translation of this book into Gujarati by Dr. P.c. Kokila, Associate professor, HOD of Hindi, the Presidency College, Chennai.
CICT thanks her for bringing forth this translation and presenting it to the Gujarati speaking people across the world.
We are very privileged to have this book commended by leaders of such eminence.
