This book by Sri Prabhodaran Sukumar, the only surviving witness to the life and teachings of Sangam Ramachandra Rao, (Amarakavi Siddeswar) is intended to bring to light the divine interpretations of a selected Thirumandiram songs the Amarakavi Siddeswar had received from his tutelary deity, Sri Moola Ganapathy through his clairvoyance.
Incidentally he has incorporated a short episode highlighting the persistent efforts taken by Amarakavia to meet Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Former President of India, to somehow get from the renowned philosoper, a treatise for his Nijananda Bodham a English version of Thirumandiram of saint Thirumular.
Generally by 'Veda' we mean Rig, Yajur, Sama, and Atharvana Veda in Sanskrit. By 'Epic' we mean Ramayana of Valmiki and Mahabharata of Veda Vyasa in Sanskrit. But it must be noted that equally important and sacred to those Sanskrit works are Tamil Vedas represented by Tirukkural, Thevaram and Diya Prabandam, Tamil Epics namely Kamba Ramayanam and Villiputhurar Bharatham. Tiruppadal Thirattu of Thayumanavar is called Tamil Upanishad and Tirumandirum is considered as the mantra sastra in Tamil.
Amarakavi had been blessed to receive the esoteric meaning of selected twelve stanzas of the mystic anthology of Tirumandiram scripted by the Sidhar Thirumoolar direct from the mouth of his personal deity Sri Moola Ganapathy in English.
Former President of the Indian Republic, Sri. S. Radhakrishnan, inspired by the esoteric elucidation of Tirmandiram was instrumental in the publication of this booklet with the philosophical dialogue between the Amarakavi and the philosopher Dr. Radhakrishnan during the period between 1971 and 1975 as a prelude, which is hoped to help the readers understand the direct relationship that prevailed between Amarakavi and Dr. Radhakrishnan.
It is a well-known fact that during his visit to the United Kingdom, Dr. Radhakrishnan had the rare honour and privilege of being received by Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II herself with Royal honours out of her personal admiration for him. It is reported that professors in London University used to carry their Oxford Dictionary in their hands while attending the philosophical discourses delivered by Savants like Dr. Radhakrishnan. Such was the erudite scholar ship and diction of Dr. Radhakrishnan. It is no exaggeration to say that Dr. Radhakrishnan was endowed with the rarest talent of elucidating the esoteric philosophical axioms in his own scholarly treatment of the subject, which earned him the goodwill and eulogy from the British Scholars.
In this prelude the readers may get a good glimpse of the scholarly dialogue between Amarakavi Siddheswara and Dr. Radhakrishnan.
I express my sincere gratitude to Mr. Jayaraman, who worked tirelessly even in his advanced age of 90 years and translated the dialogues between a Siddha Purusha and the former President of India Dr. Radhakrishnan into English. These spiritual conversations are the 'first part of this book.
All the details of Sri Moola Ganapathy's rendering of a particular 12 hymns (randumly selected) from the Thirumoolar Thirumandiram in English for Dr. Radhakrishnan are given in the 'second part of this book.
