Many people wonder about the meaning of Life and the Universe. Theosophy is the essential knowledge about Life that has been expressed by notable people in different times and cultures. Helena P. Blavatsky rediscovered this perennial tradition of general culture at the end of the 19th century and since then many thinkers have expressed it, have made their contributions and modern science corroborates and expands this vision. How do we reconcile this universal and transcendent vision with the discoveries of modern science, historical research, and the culture of our time?
This course examines the foundations of Theosophy, looking at its sources, its reflection in modern knowledge, discrepancies with common ideas, and especially the potential of Theosophy to transform our lives and improve the world.
Carlos Pérez Menéndez was born in Argentina where he studied Physics and Electronic Engineering in Rosario, migrating to Spain later. He developed his professional career in Computer Engineering and has held a managerial position at the international level. Finally, he was an independent consultant in Information Systems. He is currently retired.
He became a member of the Theosophical Society in 1973 in Rosario, Argentina. He worked in the Youth Groups and held different positions in the local headquarters, becoming Vice President of the Argentine Section of the TS. He is currently the President of the Madrid Hesperia Lodge. He has given conferences, seminars, and courses in Argentina, Bolivia, Spain, Portugal, and also by Zoom.
He is interested in the discoveries of modern science in different fields and how they often coincide and enrich the holistic vision of Theosophy. His training and interest in science and his commitment to the theosophical work lead him to investigate and innovate in the presentation of the ideas of Theosophy and their practical application to build a better world.
Many people wonder about the meaning of Life and the Universe. Theosophy is the essential knowledge about Life that has been expressed by notable people in different eras and cultures. Helena Blavatsky rediscovered this perennial tradition for general culture at the end of the 19th century and since then many thinkers have explored it, making their contributions, and modern science in many cases corroborates and broadens this vision.
The purpose of this course is to offer a presentation of the fundamental ideas of Theosophy with a current focus based on the discoveries of modern science, historical research and the culture of our time. I propose an inquiry into the essential foundations of Theosophy with a minimum of beliefs, based on the oriental traditions presented by Helena Blavatsky.
The course focuses on the essential principles of Theosophy that allow us to have a much wider world view than that offered by ordinary culture and it prepares us to address awakening to a more conscious way of living, in harmony with the whole.
I want this presentation to be able to encourage both those who for the first time are approaching a deeper understanding of the mysteries of Life, as well as those excited students already introduced to Theosophy. The internet currently offers us huge amounts of information at our fingertips. But we have to know how to search and filter it by discerning the false from the true. The internet is somehow the Library of Alexandria of our time, but democratized and with universal access, at least for now.
