In the curriculum of first year BAMS the subject named Sharira Kriya stays a foundation phase for many further specializations The study of Sharira Kriva deals with understanding the normal functions of every cell, tissue organ, organ system and entire organism all under physiological limits. As long as body remains functioning normally and regularly the individual remains healthy In Shareera Kriya one learn what are the factors that make body and its systems function normally and how it appears when it functions normally Under conditioned speed and reflexes all system coordinate and complement each other for the life of an individual. The subject Shareera Kriya depicts this mechanism of normal functioning and what are its limitations. The subjects also explain the spectrum of activities undertaken by all the organ systems at different occasions and various aspects of life. Understanding what is normal helps in understanding what is abnormal. Rogavijnana is the next phase in the curriculum after Shareera Kriya to study what turns abnormal in the body. If a student understand Shareera Kriya well then he/ she can understand Roga Vijnana very well. Finally in the last phase of curriculum we teach 'How to correct abnormal into a normal system through proper Chikitsa (treatment). Thus for a doctor it is very important to discriminate, diagnose and understand what is normal and what is abnormal with reference to an individual's tolerance level. Therefore the knowledge of Shareera Kriya is essential in every phase of curriculum. To promote health, maintain health and to reverse health from the diseased one need to have a thorough understanding of Shareera Kriya. Unless you know what is physiology, you will not understand pathology. Unless you know physiology you cannot turn a pathological state into a physiological state. Shareera Kriya can be known not only by doctors but also every single individual for awareness and self-care. Because if one knows to keep his body in health may not need much of medical help as others do.
