This book is basically for 4 year undergraduates students of Ayurveda. In this text chapters are arranged according to the syllabus of Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi. References are taken from Ayurvedic literatures as well as other books. Research and Statistics and has been presented in easy and simple language with illustrations of tables, flowcharts solved and images for better understanding. The statistics part has solved questions with step wise presentation for reference. Each chapters has probable questions at the end to equip the students from exam point of view. It has been added with previous year solved question paper and multiple choice questions with key answer which would help students in there University exams as well AIAPGET and other competitive exams.
Dr. Rashmi Pujar M.D. (AYU), (Ph.D.), (DCACRHM) born in Hubli, completed U.G. from Ayurveda Mahavidhyala, Hubli and P.G. in Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwar College of Ayurveda, Udupi. Presently she is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Roganidana at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwar College of Ayurveda, Hassan.
Dr. Priyanka Shahapur M.D. (AYU) (Ph.D.), born in Hubballi. Studied U.G. from Ayurveda Mahavidhyala, Hubli and completed P.G. from Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwar College of Ayurveda, Udupi. Presently she is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Sharira Rachana at Sanjeeveni Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Hubballi.
Dr. Aswin Haridas M.S. (Ayu), (Ph.D.), (DCCRPV) Assistant Professor Department of Shalya-Tantra Shri Dharmastala Manjunatheshwara College, Karnataka, Udupi born in Ernakulam, completed U.G. from Amrita school of Ayurveda, Kollam, Kerala and was trained under Dr. L. Mahadevan as his disciple for one and a half year followed by P.G. in Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda, Udupi in department of Shalya- Tantra. Presently perceiving Ph.D. in Parul Institute of Ayurveda, Gujarat and working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Shalya-Tantra at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda, Udupi.
Ayurveda is a science of life with a holistic approach to health and personalised medicine. It is one of the oldest medical systems. which comprises thousands of medical concepts and hypothesis Due to lack of scientific validation in various concepts, this precious gift from our ancestors is trailing. Hence, evidence-based research is highly needed for global recognition and acceptance of Ayurveda. शास्त्रं ज्योतिप्रकाशार्थं दर्शनं बुद्धिरात्मना .
If Buddhi and Aatma are powerful then one can see anything in the Shastra. As light eliminates the darkness, in the same way light of keen observations and thorough knowledge is needed for better results in the field of Research. Research methodology is a science of studying how research is to be carried out. Essentially, the procedures by which researchers go about their work of describing, explaining and predicting phenomena come under research methodology.
Medical statistics deals with application of statistics to medicine and health sciences, including epidemiology, public health, forensic medicine and clinical research. It is the science of summerising, collecting, presenting and interpreting data in medical practice and using them to estimate magnitude of associations and test hypothesis.
This work is simple attempt to bring a handy textbook of Research methodology and medical statistics in Ayurveda, written as per new BAMS syllabus for 4 year curriculum. Hope this work will be useful to everyone in the field of Ayurveda, especially to UG students.
