I am thankful to Prof. P. Chenna Reddy, Editor of this volume, Telugu Diaspora through the Ages, for this opportunity to express my feelings. The growing importance of the Indian Diaspora is felt today across the globe due to its emergence as the second-largest diasporas community. By examining historical, socio-cultural, economic, political, and literary aspects of the Indian Diaspora, this volume sets out to trace the latest developments in the field of Indian Diaspora studies. It brings together essays by Indian and foreign scholars, thus providing an authoritative platform for discussions in which identities and affiliations are contested and constituted through the hierarchies of cross-cultural migration in this increasingly globalized world. This volume traces the transnational network of the Telugu Diaspora, and will prove of interest to scholars working in the fields of the Indian Diaspora, Diaspora theory, and cultural studies. The Telugu Diaspora refers to the Telugu speaking people of Indian States living predominantly in Malaysia, Mauritius, Fiji, Singapore, Australia, Gulf, Africa and other regions around the world.

I congratulate the convener of the conference Prof. P. Chenna Reddy for choosing this contextually relevant topic as the theme of the seminar. I learnt that the seminar was a well organized one and academic deliberations were very fruitful. More than twenty one papers were presented and discussed in the conference .

This volume of as many as twenty one papers on various topics on Telugu Diaspora by very noted, eminent researchers is a most valuable addition to the subject. It help to the researcher as well as its enlightenment to the general reader is of great value. The Volume, I hope will be of interest to both serious scholars of History, Culture , Archaeology, Sociology ,Diaspora studies and students alike and also to a general reader. Prof Chenna Reddy has rendered •valuable service in editing this brilliant ensemble.
