Tatva Vada and Ethics was inspired by the unfair criticism of Tatva Vada- philosophy of Acharya Madhva that it preaches anti egalitarian and anti-ethical tenets. The book brings out the main tenets of Tatva Vada philosophy based upon the original sources and shows that it is a highly realistic and practical philosophy which is useful for all people interested in both the worldly goals and transcendental objectives. It delineates the depths of the concept of equality and equity and shows how the goal of real equality is attained if Tatva Vada tenets are followed. Divided in six chapters the first four chapters of the study show how ethicality of Tatva Vada is brought out by the original sources. The book gives plenty of source material in philosophy to bring home this point. In chapter 5 the study illustrates this point with the help of the contents analysis of one of the major works of Acharya Madhva, viz Maha Bharata Tatparya Nirnaya, which is a keen analysis bringing out the essence of the great Epic of India authored by Vedavyasa. Its essence has not been understood or which has been misunderstood by some of the western scholars and hence has been termed as a chaotic epic. In this contents analysis an attempt is made by the author to bring out the ethicality of Tatva Vada with the help of Acharya Madhva's own words showing how different episodes of Mahabharata convey great ethical messages for the benefit of humanity and how it is not just an account of family feuds for property and power. Chapter 6 of the study summarizes the main insights developed in the study. This book is in a relatively new area of research and hence it is hoped that it would inspire many research initiatives in this field.
Dr. P.R.Panchqmukhi, the author of this book on a relatively less explored area is the second son of Vidyaratna R.S.Panchamukhi (1898-1984), Indologist, Historian and Sanskrit Scholar, who was known as the Bhishma Pitamaha of research in Karnataka during his time. Trying to inculcate the spirit of research in his thinking like his father, he was professionally trained in social science-economics being an M.A. and Ph.D. from Bombay University. He has been recognized as an eminent economist of India. He was systematically initiated into philosophy and Sanskrit by his father right from his childhood. He has authored and edited a number of research publications in economics- economics of education and health and also Sanskrit and philosophy and guided a number of students for their Ph.D. from a number of universities in the country. Being a ready witted poet in Sanskrit and Kannada his works on Anusudhasarah, Shiksharogya Arthashastram, Rasa Kaveri, etc in Sanskrit and his magnum opus entitled Karnataka Shrimad Bhagavata in three Volumes) consisting of nearly 15000 Bhamini Shatpadi verses in Kannada have been well received by scholars. His khanda kavyas in Sanskrit like Ashvadhati Guru Kruta Krutistavanam, Ashvadhati Panchadhikarani, etc. have been novel experiments in poetic presentations of philosophical ideas in generally difficult ashvadhati meter in Sanskrit. He has also brought out a number of analytical papers in English on different philosophical themes. He was one of the Founder Members and the first Founder Director of CMDR, a nationally recognized social science research institutes in a less developed region of north Karnataka.
