The national movement generated a new life and enthusiasm in the country and brought forward outstanding men and women who contributed their best for the freedom of the country and its development. This reached its peak during the last stages of the movement under Gandhiji's leadership when the message of non- co-operation penetrated every nook and corner and the demand for Swaraj reached the masses.

Every province produced important and great leaders. Shri T. Prakasam was one of the great leaders of Andhra Pradesh and was known as the Lion of Andhra. Not much is known about him or his achievements for spreading the message of nationalism and Swaraj not in Andhra Pradesh and also practically throughout the South. His was a remarkable and distinguished life both in the fields of professional and national work where his sacrifices, his intelligence and other great qualities made a permanent impact.

Shri Rajeswara Rao has provided in this book a brief sketch of the life of this great public figure of Andhra Pradesh. He has done a good deal of research for preparing this book. We are grateful to Shri T. Vishwanatbam, who was a close colleague and admirer of Prakasam, for going through the book and making suggestions.
