I have great pleasure in presenting the treatise on "Tagore's Philosophy of Education", written by the late Dasturji N. D. Minocher-Homji, an erudite scholar of education and religion, who concentrated his entire life-time for the benefit of the young students under his charge and humanity at large. The book exemplifies his deep-seated comparative knowledge of various philosophies of education, very skilfully knitted in simple and lucid language, stressing the values and principles of Tagore's impressive ideas and ideals, which culminated in the establishment of the Ashram school and the Visva Bharati University.
Dasturjı has rightly emphasised the need for understanding the emotional, intellectual and spiritual well-being of the child, as desired by Gurudev and the adequate training of teachers to be moulded into such philosophy to create the right environment for learning through natural surroundings.
It is God's blessings that Dasturjı has the unique knack of putting the most difficult concepts into anecdotes and illustrations for the understanding of the common people, which endeared him to one and all during his lifetime, through his lectures and writings.
I pray that the publication gets the widest circulation and falls in to the hands of the present day teachers to lure them to laudable thoughts of great thinker, like Gurudev Tagore.
