Righteousness and Spiritual Idealism form the very root essence (moola tatva) of Bharatavarsha's hoary Culture. These great principles of life are the most precious gems in our cultural Heritage. The noble, unbroken line of saints, sages and mahapurushas have preserved these peerless teachings through hundreds of years and handed them down from generation to generation. They have thus enabled us also to obtain access to this lofty heritage of Yoga, Vedanta, Sanatan Dharma, Sadachara and Paropakara. Pujya Shree Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj of Rishikesh is one such great sage in our santa-parampara or Guru parampara who is striving to revive and spread our sublime Vedantic and Dharmic Ideals in this present atomic Age, when such teachings are of the greatest necessity and indispensable for human welfare and peace upon earth. Sri. Swami Sivanandaji is a towering spiritual personality known all over the modern world and whose main aim is the dissemination of spiritual knowledge and awakening of mankind throughout the world. The life of such persons illumines the path of Human Progress and evolution of mankind. Their words and actions show the way to ennoble ourselves and attain perfection. Their life and teachings are a great Light amidst darkness. This is the unique value of knowing about them and their teachings for verily we become inspired and experience a new awakening and a new strength within. Hence the importance of such a book as this present volume to us of this restless age filled so much with wrong ideals and with extreme likes and dislikes between men and nations. The supreme blessedness of this work however is the fact that this personality whose biography contains, is still alive with us today and you can have the supreme good fortune of gaining the living influence and inspiration of his personal darshan and upadesh.

Many books have been hitherto written on Swamiji's life but no adequate biography in Marathi has appeared up till now. We have to congratulate Sri.B.R.Naik for this nice work. The biographer deserves the thanks of all Marathi reading Public whom he has put under a joyous debt of gratitude by this signal service.
