This book has grown out of my involvement in M.Phil research work in Delhi University. This book by its very nature is focused on mountain tourism and its dynamics. Although a few books dealing with some specialized aspect of tourism geography have appeared in India, there has been no systematic treatment of subject from sustainable perspective. The present book is an attempt to provide conceptual aspect of tourism and nature of tourism in the mountain. The author's perspective of sustainable mountain tourism in Uttarkashi district inter-relates the assessment of tourist infrastructure facilities and problems associated with mountain tourism. Dynamics of mountain tourism has been also discussed at meso and micro level while analyzing the tourist arrival data. Finally, this book provides the necessary orientation to the direction in which ecotourism for sustainable mountain tourism is relevant. The authors present the book with hope and confidence to the students and teachers of tourism geography and regional planning. Besides, it is an indispensable guide for those interested to visit Uttarkashi district as adventure tourist.
