“…If you are chanting the pure name or remembering the pure name, you will immediately see the all beautiful form of Syamasundara. It will be manifest before you. That is the test that you are chanting the pure name; you see Syamasundara immediately…” Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
This book is compiled from lectures by the great bhakta – bhagavata His Divine Grace Srila Acarya Thakura Gour Govinda Swami, a swan – like personality, whose only aim in life was to reveal the deep truths of Mahaprabhu’s teachings in the heart of all sincere seekers. Personalities such as His Divine Grace are rare agents of the Lord’s mercy in this world. Such bhakta – bhagavatas are pure devotees who are absorbed in bhakti – rasa, the mellows of loving devotion.
Yaga, bhagavata pada vaisnavera sthane Ekanta asraya kara caitanya – carane
“If you want to understand Srimad – Bhagavatam you must approach a self realized Vaisnava and study it under his guidance while at the same time taking exclusive shelter of the lotus feet of Lord Caitanya.”
In Suddha – nama Bhajana His Divine Grace Srila Acarya Thakura Gour Govinda Swami gives us a guide to chanting the pure name. His Divine Grace explains the three stages of chanting. The three stages being, nama – aparadha, namabhasa, and suddha – nama. The first chapter describes the nama – aparadhas (the ten offences), the second chapter describes the attriutes of namabhasa (the intermediate stage of chanting) and the final chapter describes the glories of Mahaprabhu’s mission, to distribute suddha – nama, the glories of the pure name or “prema – nama –sankirtana.”
Dui hetu avatari’ lana bhakta – gana Apane asvade prema – nama – sankirtana
“Thus with two intentions the Lord appeared with His devotees and tasted the nectar of prema with the congretional chanting of the holy name.”
Punah ati – utkantha, dainya ha – ila udgama Krsna – thani mage prema – nama – sankirtana
“Natural humility and eagerness then awoke in Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. He prayed to Krsna to be able to chant the maha – mantra in ecstatic love.” We hope that all who read this book will greatly benefit from it.
The Importance of the Panca – tattva
The acaryas have shown this path; to pay obeisances, crores and crores of obeisances to the dear devotees of Gauranga Mahaprabhu and beg also describe the transcendental pastimes of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
Ei ta’ kahila panca – tattvera vyakhyana Ihara sravane haya caitanya – tattva – jnana
“I thus explain the truth of the Panca – tattva. One who hears this explanation increases in knowledge of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.”
In the purport, my revered spiritual master Srila Prabhupada has said; “The Panca – tattva is a very important factor in understanding Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. There are sahajiyas who not knowing the importances of the Panca – tattva, concoct their own slogans such as bhaja nitai –gaura, radhe – syama, japa hare krsna hare rama or sri krsna caitanya prabhu nityananda hare krsna hare rama Sri radhe – govinda. Such chants may be good poetry, put they cannot help us to go forward in devotional service.”
These are concocted slogans by the sahajiyas and this is not prescribed or accepted by bonafide acaryas in this Caitanya school of thought, there fore we should not do it. The previous acaryas have not done so – mahajano yena gatah sa panthah; Mahaprabhu has not done so, He chanted the Hare Krsna maha – mantra.
Hare krsna hare krsna krsna krsna hare hare Hare rama hare rama rama rama hare hare
Prabhu bale- kahilana ei mahamantra iha japa giya sabe kariya nirbandha
Iha haite sarva – siddhi haibe sabara Sarva – ksana bala ‘ithe vidhi nahi ara
Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, “I say this is the mahamantra: Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.” Mahaprabhu is the supreme authority, he is non – different from Krsna and he has said chant this Hare Krsna maha – mantra with firm faith, full nistha; iha japa giya sabe kariya nirbandha, iha haite sarva –siddhi haibe sabara, sarva – ksana bala ‘ithe vidhi nahi ara. There are no regulations at all; at any time, any place you may chant Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare, and you can achieve all perfection.” The Gosvamis, headed by Rupa Gosvami have said this and they are all bonafide acaryas, and therefore bonafide authourities.
