In this Stuti-Chandrika Swami Ji has very successfully achieved a variety of objects. In the first place he endeavours, through a masterly exposition of the thought-elevating meanings of these verses, to implant the seed of aspiration (4 F451), to augment the Godward push and finally to bring the psychic being of an individual aspirant in closer touch with the Divine Truth, which is generally hidden in man by his mind, the vital being and physical nature. Prayer has undoubtedly that efficacy. Secondly, in the frequent footnotes, we get revealing glimpses of the fundamentals and the history of Shaivism. Thirdly, the mere recitation of these sacred mantrams leads one to the higher regions of thought. Any attempt at concentration on theirembodied meanings is bound to have the miraculous effect of focussing one’s scattered consciousness and arousing in him greater interest in Other thought-provoking aspects of the underlying principles of this type of ancient Monism.
