About the Book
The book contains 18 articles out of which 5 articles concern with different aspects of Rgveda, 8 articles concern with Modern Sanskrit literature and the rest of the articles concern with different aspects of Philosophy. Thus the book is a blend of Veda, Vedanta and Modern Sanskrit literature.
S. Ranganath secured First Class, First Rank in M.A. Sanskrit from Bangalore University. He is the recipient of Hiriyanna Gold Medal and Hebbar Srivaishnava Sabha gold Medal. The title Vedabhooshana was Conferred on him by Veda Dharma Paripalana Sabha. American Biographical Institute, U.S.A. has honoured him with the title the man of the Year 1996. He has a Vidwan Degree in Advaita Vedanta from Sri Chamarajendra Sanskrit College. He has studied Rgveda traditionally for eight years. His Ph.D. dissertation was contribution of Vacaspati Misra to Indian Philosophy. He has eighteen books and sixty research papers to his credit. His Kannada translation of Prof. Satya Varat Shastri's Ramakirti Mahakavyam is published in Bangkok (Thailand). He is Professor of Sanskrit, N.M.K.R.V. College for Women, Bangalore.
Rgveda is the oldest written record available to us in World Literature. The present volume concerns with 5 articles on Rgveda. The first three articles viz ".Rgveda and its importance", "Gods in Rgveda" and "Philosophy of Rgveda" are the lectures delivered by me in Indian Institute of World Culture under the Auspicies of Wadia Memorial Lectures during the year 1987. "Agni in Rgveda and its Mutual Relation with the Pouranika Devatas" was a paper presented at Delhi University."Secularism in the Hymus of Rgveda" was a Lecture Delivered under the auspicies of World Association for Vedic Studies (Waves). "Aum in Upanisads" was a lecture delivered me under the auspicies of Advaita Research Foundation, Bangalore. "A note on the concept of Annan in the Light of sadasiva Brahmendra" was published in voice of Sankara A yearly journal from Madras. "Bhoja's Tattvaprakasa" was - paper presented during the National Seminal on Bhoja held - Bharatya Vidya Bhavan Bangalore. "Abhinavagupta's concept of Santarasa" was a paper presented, during the anal Seminar on Abhinava Gupta being organised by Indian institute of Advanced Study, Shimla. "The place of Krisakanam: nagapasah among radio Dramas" was published in Vagisa Sastry Felicitation Volume from Varanasi. "Bhati me Bharatam" the paper read during Baroda Oriental Conference. -Thence of Vedic trends on Modern Sanskrit Literature" resented at Saugar University. "Contribution of Karnatakanskrit Drama since Independence" was read at Poona 7sity. The rest of the articles were written at different point of time I am delighted to place the volume before the deligent critics for their valuable suggestions and comments.
