In this book the author interprets historical facts with data drawn from the medical literature of India. Indian religious principles, rules and beliefs, as well as many practices and habits, noticed in literary sources and in the accounts of foreign travelers, are analysed, interpreted and shown as supported by data drawn from Ayurvedic texts. Thus the existence of a close and vital link between the medical world and the social, religious and political life of India has been clearly traced.
