Shri Ashok Kumar Rai started his career in 1969 as a Mechanical Engineer and worked in various organisations like Control Switch Gear Co., Hyderabad Asbestos, NBCC, and BHEL. Since 1982, Shri Rai has been working with NTPC. He was also on deputation to NASL (Joint venture of NTPC& Alsthom) from 2000 to 2001. Since 2002, he has been working as Manager, APDP-R&M, NTPC.

Shri Rai has travelled to many countries. During his visit to France he got an opportunity to visit 240 MW Lawrance Tidal Power Station installed near English Channel owned by EDF, France.

Since his childhood, he had been fascinated with aviation mechanics and wanted to become a Pilot. Though fortune did not smile on him still he enthusiastically pursued his love and passion for aviation and kept himself updated with latest advanced techniques in aviation mechanics.

Life is not ordinary as it seems. You just have to look around to feel the magic. A Chinese proverb says: "The miracle is not to fly in the air or to walk on water, but to walk on earth."

Humanity is a limb of nature and nature is a limb of the divine power. The universe is the university for those who care to watch and learn. Nature is very crucial for life and life sustains on earth because of sunlight, air, food and water. Real wealth is not in money and currency but in our natural resources which play a vital role in sustaining life-living tuned with nature and its rhythms is living close to God.

Most people, who are not tuned with nature, find themselves out of the natural cycle; their life becomes meaningless, purposeless, and worthless. An ordinary illness, as even a mild unfavourable situation, frustrates him/her to the extent that he/ she prays to God for liberation.
