Book Description
Preface

To ensure the quality of the pharmaceutical material used in Unani Medicine, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) has launched a programme of drug standardisation. The scientists associated with this programme are busy evolving pharmacopoeial standards for the single as well as compound Unani drugs. So far the Council has been successful in establishing standards for 385 compound and 185 single drugs. This kind of work is the first ever record in the 2500-year history of the system.

The Council has already published three volumes each containing physico- chemical standards for 100 Unani compounds. Two volumes, each having standards for 50 single drugs, of the book Standardisation of Single Drugs of Unani Medicine have also been brought out. This present volume is the third part of the same title. It is hoped that like the previous volumes this work would also be warmly received among the scientific community as well as the researchers and academics of Unani Medicine.

It is a great pleasure to express our gratitude to the Council's Scientific Advisory Committee and Drug Research Sub-Committee for their guidance and advice in carrying out this work.

Our thanks go to the scientists associated with the work for their contribution. For their help in the vetting of the manuscripts we express our appreciation to Hakim Ghulam Mehdi, Junior Deputy Director, Hakim S.S. Ali, Senior Research Officer (Unani), Dr. Shamshad Ahmad Khan, Senior Research Officer (Chemistry) and Dr. Wasiuddin, Research Officer (Botany).

We are also appreciative of the patient efforts of Mr. Mehr-e-Alam Khan, Research Officer (Publication) and Mr. Aminuddin, Senior Scientific Assistant (Botany) in the publication of this volume.
