Agatthiyar jnanam 30 is a collection of thirty verses that describe Siddhas' vaasi-sivayoga secrets. This was one of the books in my grandfather's collection. Since 2011 we started to write explanations for the verses at our website Siddha vidya vignana following Gurunatha's permission. Our effort stopped with six verses as the workload became unmanageable.
When I went to Ayurveda Medical council to take my examination for medicine I got a chance to discuss the yoga jnana secrets found in Siddha verses with the head of Siddha Vaidya section, Dr. (Mrs) Vignaveni Selavanathan. At that time she asked me, "Why don't you share your experiences on Siddha verses with those interested in this field?" When I asked Gurunatha's permission he told me to go ahead.
After that Dr. Mrs. Vignaveni Selvanathan introduced me to Mr. Vyasa Kalyana sundaram who was running yoga asana classes at Colombo Ashtanga Yoga Mandir. Mr. Vyasa, selflessly arranged for classes at the centre every Monday since 2014, so that those who are interested in this rare knowledge will benefit from it. Since August 11th 2014 classes in the gurukula style with discussions are going on every Monday evening where we explained the meaning of the verses following dhyana of Maharishi and gurumandalam. When I was worried about giving wrong meanings to the verses Gurunatha assured me with his words, "The truth we give will be understood by everyone in accordance with their state of evolution. Hence, nothing is right and nothing is wrong.
Saluting my first guru, my soul, which functions within me, knowing everything, my parents who gave me this body and all the gurus who guide me in the path of wisdom, I offer this dhyana anubhava sadhana (Based on my personal meditative experience) manual. Key to Agatthiyar's yoga and jnana which is a commentary on Agatthiyar jnanam (Wisdom) 30, for your perusal and learning.
This book is not a literal interpretation of the words with the help of a dictionary. It was written from personal knowledge that my ancestors who belonged to Siddha, yoga and medical lineage conferred upon me and from my personal experiences during Dhyana sadhana (Practice of meditation).
Generally, if one wishes to understand a siddha work one has to know oneself, first. Only when a person knows what he is made of will he be able to understand the words of the siddhas. A man cannot travel in the path of jnana - Wisdom unless he knows about the manas (mind) and its functions which gave him the name man. Otherwise, previous impressions present in his subconscious mind will mislead him. We call these as doubts. A person's growth of knowledge depends on how capable he is in controlling his doubts and assimilating new knowledge. Sufficiently strong prana is required to control the chittham (Subconscious mind) and manas and to make the buddhi (intellect) strong. Those who lack the control will repeatedly ask questions as they cannot understand the answers.
