This volume contains 260 Telugu inscriptions that were copied during the years 1946-53. They are useful for studying the political and socio-economic conditions of the Medieval Andhra. The dynasties represented in this volume are that of the Banas, Chalukyas of Vatapi, Kakatiyas and Vijayanagara rulers. Some inscriptions are very interesting for they throw light in elucidating some aspects of details embedded in other records. A sizeable number of miscellaneous inscriptions are also useful in understanding the history of the region.
At the outset itself I thank Dr. T. S. Ravishankar Director (Epigraphy) I/c for all his help and encouragement. He has also gone through the whole proof and made suggestions with regard to format and language. In the task of editing these records I was helped by several scholars. In particular, I wish to record my deep of gratitude to my revered teacher Dr. S. S. Ramachandra Murthy, Professor of Indian History and Archaeology (Retd.) Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. He made several useful suggestions in editing these inscriptions. I am also equally beholden to Dr. C. Somasundara Rao, Professor of History (Retd.) Andhara University, Vishakhapatnam. He revised some of the introductions and provided many useful suggestions. Discussions with him on some aspects of facts revealed in these inscriptions cleared many of my doubts. I also thank my senior colleague Dr. S. Swaminathan, Deputy Superintending Epigraphist for all his help and suggestion.
I will be failing in my duty if I do not record my sincere thanks to Dr. Meka V. Raghvendra Varma, Assistant Epigraphist who has shouldered the entire responsibility of composing the matter which he did very efficiently. He assisted me in studying Sanskrit inscriptions and helped me in interpreting some of the terms figuring in Sanskrit inscriptions. I thank Sri Yesubabu, Asst. Epigraphist for his timely help. Shri G. Srinivasa Rao, Senior photographer also helped me the initial stages in composing the matter and I thank him for his help. Shri G. S. Ravishankar, Stenographer has motivated me through out and has been a source of inspiration. Last but not least I also thank Shri V. P. Rammunni who has supplied ungrudgingly all the impressions necessary for this study. I also thank Mrs. Sapna for having composed index to the volume neatly.
