Introduction

"Wonders of the world are more than seven and the Sarasvati Mahal Library is one of them". The Telugu books in that wonderful library forms the most valuable collection of manuscripts particularly relating to the Southern school in Telugu Literature. This collection also contains manuscripts of important Telugu classics, Kavyas and Prabandhas not available elsewhere.
One such work in "Sivaparijatamu" this was written by Venkata Krishna Jetty. The poet in the court of Sivaji II The work has been written both in Telugua nd Tamil A blend of Telugu and Tamil in the same stanza or in the same Sentence of a prose is a common feature in the Saiva literature. But separate stanzas for both these Languages are devoted in this work. This Palm leaf Manuscript has been written in Telugu script and also transliterated in Tamil languages. By this one can the study on the Phonological system of Tamil language in 19th century.
Sivaji – II(1833-1855): Sivaji-II the son Sarabhoji-II is the last Marata ruler of Tanjore. He has also kept up the traditions of his fore fathers. His court poet Venkatakrishna kavi.
Vekatakrishna kavi: He belongs to Mallukula (Westlers Caste) and is one of the Court poet of Sivaji -II (1833-1855) the last Marata raja of Tanjore. In the beginning of his work Sivaparijatamu. He states that he belonged to Mallukulad of Vasista Gotra. His father is Kanakayya the author also states that he is a Youngman without any Literary equipment but the grace of Chandra Mouliswara and the Patrorage of Sivaji-II encouraged him to undertake the work in the Colophon however Venkatakrishna Jetty. Son of Kanaka Jetty and as such there is no room to doubt about his caste.
The form of Sivaparijatamu is a Drama of the southern school. The subject is the appeasement of quarrel between Ganga and Gauri by Siva being a Juvenile compositions it is a literary merit. This is a Palm leaf manuscript preserved in the Telugu Manuscripts section. Possessing the D.No. 636, M. No. 666 & D.No. 637, M.No. 690. This work will be useful not only to Telugu scholars, but also the Tamil scholars.
This work "Siva Parijatamu" in published by the library with Tamil introduction and critical study. I thank the District Collector and Director of this library Dr. N.
