The papers collected in the present volume are representative of the wide range of scholarship of one of the most perceptive researchers of recent times. Dr. C.Rajendran, currently working as Professor and Head of the Department of Sanskrit, University of Calicut, is a scholar of international repute. His doctoral thesis on Mahimabhatta's Vyaktiviveka was widely acclaimed as a significant contribution to studies in poetics. His work, Pathavum Porulum was selected as the best work in literary criticism by Kerala Sahitya Akademi in 2001

Preface

Most of the articles included in this Volume fall under the categories of Literary theory, and Linguistics and the rest are of general nature which have been grouped under 'Miscellany'. Most of these articles were either published in research journals or presented in various National and International seminars. The common thread uniting them is that all of the deal with various aspects of Indology.

I am extremely thankful to Rashtriya Samskrit Sansthan, New Delhi for having given me a grant which enabled me to go ahead with the publication of this work.
