About the Author

Dr. Mahendra Mittal was born to a trader family of Hapur, Gaziabad (U.P.) on June 12, 1933. His passion for literature showed up in him in the very teens. Basically a literator, he earned M.A. degree and Doctorate in Hindi literature.

His first novel ‘Bheegi Palkain’ was published in 1959 by S. Chand & Co. of Delhi. It was translated in several languages and was a subject of curriculum in the colleges of South-Western region up to graduate level. After that he authored novels titled ‘Mangal Sutra’, ‘Dhundhli Rekhayen’, ‘Chhaya Purush’, ‘Ret Ki Kagar’, ‘Nandini’, ‘Bhikhari Chehre’, ‘Sarhad Paar Se’, ‘Samrat Ashok’, ‘Dharmayudh’, ‘Shirdi Ke Sant, Saibaba’, ‘Mat Chuko Chauhan’, etc.

In religious literature he has written - ‘Kya Hai Vedon Main’, ‘Kya Hai Upanishadon Main’, ‘Kya Hai Puranon Main’, ‘Sachitra Ramayana’, ‘Shiv Puran’, ‘Hamare Vividh Dharmon Ke Sanskar’, ‘Bhagwan Mahavir’, ‘Bhagwan Buddha’,’Shukra Neeti’,’Chanakya Neeti,’ ‘Chanakya Sutra’, ‘Sant Kaviyon Ke Prasidhha Dohe’, and hundreds of short mythological pictorial stories.

Currently, he is editing monthly ‘Harishchandra Bandhu’ and writing freelance. His thesis ‘Bhartiya Chalchitra’ and ‘Gulab Aur Shivaji’ are award winners.
