The Oriental Research Institute, Mysore is glad to present the III and final volume of Basavabhupala's Shivatattvaratnakara to the Sanskrit World. The critical editions of the first and second volumes of this work were published by this Institute earlier. There has been a demand from scholars for completion of this publication and now the desideratum is fulfilled.

Shri H. Deveerappa and Dr. G. Marulasiddaiah, the former directors of the Oriental Research Institute, have written in their respective forewords to the first and second editions amply about the work and its author. However, the following may be said here to complement what has been said before about the dynasty of the Nayakas of Ikkeri, to which our illustrious author belonged.
