The author commutes everyday for minimum 3 hours and this traveling time of 3 hours, he utilizes in doing JAPA (Namasmarana) by following time management techniques, while carrying out mechanical activities involving no active participation of mind. Author has explained this particular and many other time management theories quite elaborately in this work called “SHARNAGATI”. Foreword

I am glad to foreword a book that is keyed to the needs of modern minds. Today we are in an ultra-modern age wherein even examinations, medical consultation can be had online. New trends are coming up in every field of human endeavor, and the very constitution of man is undergoing a radical change, as it were. Consequently, scriptural injunctions, and the ethical codes of yore-however genuine and valuable they may be-simply do not weigh with the current scenario. Sayings such as ‘old is gold’ sound like ravings of a demented old man. So it is high-time now that religion and spirituality too are put forward in an alluring new fashion.

Shri A R K Sarma has promptly risen to the occasion and has pioneered the novel method of conveying the religious teachings. The present volume deals exhaustively with the principle and practice of Sharangati [resignation to God] with the life and teachings of Sri Sri Ramakrishna as the pivot. The author’s grasp over the subject and the depth of his understanding are explicit in the pages. Besides, it is commendable choice that author has taken the words of Sri Ramakrishna to propound ‘Sharangati’. Because, as Swami Vivekananda points out, life and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna are totally scientific and rational, in as much as they can stand all scientific examinations and critical analysis, even as any other physical science can.

The nectarine words of Sri Ramakrishna are illustrated here with copious pictures which removes boredom usually occasioned by a scriptural study. The author has taken much pain to ensure a pleasurable reading. The schematic diagrams put in at proper places help the reader to conceptualize the theme unmistakably. Interesting incidents from the life of Sri Ramakrisha is another attractive feature. The chapter on the teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi is an added fascination. The last chapter on frequently asked questions is very thoughtful and has enhanced the utility of the compilation. That the author has succeeded in sustaining the curiosity of the reader all though the book is indeed undisputed.

This diligent effort of Shri A R K Sarma with highly academic qualification and vast experience in telecommunication field, will surely enable the novices to effortlessly comprehend the essence of ‘Sharanagati’ [The practice of surrendering oneself to God], and also help all aspirants towards their spiritual goal. By the unbounded grace of Sri Sri Ramakrishna, may this pictorial exposition, guide and inspire the aspirants especially the youth in the path of God-realization.
