The book Atmabikash was first written for students residing in various hostels run by Ramakrishna Mission. It was published in three parts about twenty years ago from the branch of Ramakrishna Mission at Narayanganj. After the first edition was exhausted, it was not reprinted for a long time. Meanwhile, as a result of the independence and the consequent change in the political scenario of the country, the responsibility of Ramakrishna Mission in the field of education had increased. In this context, the need for an ideal booklet like this, helpful in the moulding of the lives of young students, was felt by everyone.
