The book "Secrets of Heart" Impulses is an attempt to unravel the two puzzles: Intelligence and consciousness, in the light of the viewpoints of three great philosophers of the world. The book highlights the heights of Hinduism, the fountain head of Vedic Literature. The Beauty in Trinity, the Power of Intuition, and the Holiness of Sacred Numbers has been dealt with. The most Sacred Mantra from Veda, the Gayatri Mantra, its significance, its effectiveness and bearing on mankind has been highlighted. The burning topic of present day the Environmental Pollution, its causes, its impact on human beings and remedies have been dealt with. The author's personal events and real time episodes bearing direct impact on mankind in general also find place in this book.
Dr. M.L. Bhat originally hails from a small hamlet of beautiful Kashmir Valley. He retired as Professor of Chemistry. He has been living in exile for the last 28 years after the Mass Exodus of 1990. He is married to Champa Dhar and has two children.
CHAPTER 1 INTELLIGENCE AND CONSCIOUSNESS highlights the views of these three great philosophers regarding the role of intuition and desire in human affairs. The two deep questions of mind: intelligence and consciousness have been described in terms of the philosophies of these three great men. Whereas the intelligence has been understood, the consciousness remains a puzzle. The intellectualism, i.e; conception of man as a rational animal started feeling sick with Rousseau, reclining to bed with Kant and meeting its death with Schopenhauer.
CHAPTER 2 POWER OF ANTAII-KARNAH deals with the power of intuition, which at its best is translated in Sanskrit as antah-karnah. The identity of a man is determined by his inner sense. Every individual has an inner spark of divinity. The Divine Revelation, which constitutes the fountain head of Hindu wisdom, is the Veda. This book enlists my humble attempt to bring forth the main features of the Vedas. The divine spark glitters in the inner recesses of the man, so much so that we can safely say that a being is the creature of his emotions.
CHAPTER3 BEAUTY IN TRINITY describes the sanctity of '3' in Hinduism which is a trinity based religion. The Holy Pranava AUM is a manifestation of Divine Triad. AUM is a triad of three letters: A (a( standing for Brahma, U (3) for Visnu and M (44) for Mahesh. The sound of these three letters invoke the Divine Hindu Trinity.
The three strides of Visnu deals with the mighty deed of Visnu as mentioned in RgVeda Samhita. RigVeda is the most authoritative of the four Vedas. Visnu in three strides covered earth, ether and heaven.
The Universal Trichotomy highlights the sanctity of number three. Lord Krishna in Bhagvad Gita teaches three faiths to Arjuna. These three faiths correspond to three natures of human beings viz; Sattvic, Rajassic and Tamasic. The sacred nature of number three is also reflected in three gods, three fires, three powers, three vowel sounds, three lokas, three steps, three Tirthas, three spirits, three initial letters, three varunas and three troubles.
CHAPTER 4 HOLINESS OF '12' & '7' deals with The Pantheon of 12 and The Divine legacy of number ‘7.' Earth's 12-month journey round the sun changes the starry backdrop, forming a great 360 degree circle. The Zodiac was created by dividing this circle into 12 equal parts (Zodiac Houses) of 30 degrees each.
The Divine legacy of 7 concerns the sanctity of number 7. The sacred nature of 7 is revealed in the 7 days of the week, the 7 sages, the 7 rounds, 7 horses, 7 sisters, 7 half embryos and so on.
CHAPTER 5 GAYATRI MANTRA describes the most sacred mantra from RgVeda the fountain -head of Hindu Wisdom and knowledge. What is the meaning, what it consists of, what it does for us and when to say the mantra, have been highlighted. The Triple aspects and the five faces of this sacred mantra are explained.
CHAPTER 6 TRAGEDY OF THE COMMONS describes a dozen environmental problems viz; destruction of natural habitats, overharvesting, biodiversity losses, soil erosion, energy ceiling, freshwater ceiling, photosynthetic ceiling, toxic chemicals, alien species, atmospheric gases (global warming), population increase and population impact.
CHAPTER 7 CHOPPY WATERS deals with the real-life events and my personal episodes having a bearing on the mankind in general. The childhood memories and important events down the memory lane have been narrated. Forty four such topics have been enlisted.
