"Your Indological Journal has at once thrown up the standard of Indological periodicals. The adage that there is always a place on the top is exemplified by your Journal"-This is what the late Dr. V. S. Agrawala, the well-known Indologist of international repute remarked after carefully going through the first issue of the Vishve- shvaranand Indological Journal (VIJ) published, in 1963, under the able editorship of the late Acharya Dr. Vishva Bandhu of sacred memory. Since then, the VIJ has been considered as the prime Indian Indological periodical characterised by expert editing and richness of contents.
Up to 1982, Twenty volumes of the Journal were published. Conceding the suggestions received from the concerned scholars, the Decennial Index to VIJ relating to Volumes I-X for the years 1963-72 had been issued, as compiled by Dr. K. V. Sarma, in 1973 both as a Supplement to the Volume XI of the VIJ and, also in a book-form, separately. The present publication entitled The Second Decennial Index to Vishveshvaranand Indological Journal is only a continuation of the afore-said the first one. The present Index includes in its purview VIJ Volumes XI to XX pertaining to the period of ten years from 1973 to 1982. While the first 10 volumes of VIJ figured in the First Index had been edited by the late Acharya Dr. Vishva Bandhu, the next 10 volumes (XI-XX) treated in this Second Index were issued under the editor- ship of four different scholars, namely, Acharya Dr. Vishva Bandhu (1 Vol. XI), Dr. B. R. Sharma (1 Vol. XII), Dr. K. V. Sarma (5 Vols. XIII-XVII) and Prof. S. Bhaskaran Nair (3 Vols. XVIII-XX).
