Little Satya lives by the Ganga in Banaras and longs to row her own boat on the river, just like her father. But he says she's not old enough or strong enough. The spirited girl can't wait... One day, she makes a little paper boat and that night, she dreams and drifts into a watery world. But what is her father doing there? As the story unfolds, the finely detailed illustrations and their colours heighten its magical quality and brilliantly capture the hustle and bustle of the Banaras river front.
Saraswati Nandini Majumdar is a writer and musician. Apart from fiction for children, she has published a book of walks through Banaras (Varanasi), where she lives. She works for education and the arts with NIRMAN, a non-profit organisation.
Ayeshe Sadr is an illustrator who works out of her Mehrauli studio in New Delhi. She studied textile designing in Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology in Bengaluru, and would like to work towards integrating her illustrations into textiles.
