Sarabharaja Vilasa by Jagannatha Pandita is a notable work in Sanskrit. The poet Jagannatha Pandita was also called as Unmananda natha. He wrote nine works, namely; Rati-Manmatha Natakam. 2) Sarabharaja Vilasam, 3) Vasumathi Parinayam 4) Gnana Vilasa Kavyam, 5) Nirthyothsava Nibandham 6) Bhaskara Vilasam, 7) Hrdayamrutam, 8) Gnaneswari Tippanam, 9; Athmabodha Vivaranam. The poet adorned the court of the Thanjavur Maratha King Serfoji-1 (1711 - 1729 A. D.) The King patronised many poets and he was celebrated by the poets as Sahitya Bhojon.' This work is being published for the first time from the paper manuscript, preserved in the Sanskrit section of this library. Even though the first portion seems to be Champu Kavya in style, the later portion is in prose form. This work contains very valuable information’s about the Thanjavur Palace, its administration, the art and activities of the people in those days. The Editor Thiru N. Srinivasan, Sanskrit Pandit of this library has edited this literary piece in Sanskrit in a nice manner by giving detailed introduction in Tamil and Sanskrit and also the short description about the text in Tamil for which he deserves our congratulations. Our thanks are due to Messrs. Lucme Printers, Thanjavur for their neat execution of Printing and also for the Government of India for their generous grant for this publication.
