About The Book

The great Saptarishi are the seven greatest sages of the Vedic realm who have attained a semi-immortal status, that of an exceedingly long lifespan thanks to their yogic power and by the facility of their penance. The seven saints were assigned to be present through the four great ages, to direct the humanity. Saptarishi are a group of Vedic sages who built the foundation of Hinduism. They created many hymns and mantras in the Vedas. They were great ascetics and did penance for many years and achieved divine powers. Some of them are Brahmarishis. A Brahmarshi is a sage who has attained enlightenment by completely understanding the meaning of Brahman and has attained the highest divine knowledge. So they rank higher than the other sages. It is believed that Lord Shiva is their teacher. During the onset of every Satya Yuga, Saptarishis come to Earth and recount dharma that is lost by the end of Kali Yuga. It is believed that they are so powerful that they can defeat any weapon on the Earth. Sanatana Dharma means the Eternal Religion, the Ancient Law. This is based on the Vedas. This is the oldest of living religions. Hinduism is known by the name Sanatana Dharma. What the Vedas alone declare to be the means of attaining the summum bonum or the final emancipation, is the Sanatana Dharma or Hindu Dharma. India has been blessed from time immemorial by the advent of innumerable sages. In this book you can read the stories of some of these known Rishi and Dharma.

Preface

The great Saptarishi are the seven greatest sages of the Vedic realm who have attained a semi-immortal status, that of an exceedingly long lifespan thanks to their yogic power and by the facility of their penance. The seven saints were assigned to be present through the four great ages, to direct the humanity.

Veda is the Sanatan foundation of Universal Dharma, original, ancient, Sanatan yet modern, living in creative response to the changing circumstances. Sanatan Dharma till today has passed through many historical stages: the Original Vedic in what is called the Vedic age, then ritualistic, pure as well as distorted, theistic, even non- theistic, ethical, moral, symbolic, mythological, with even a variety of 'Gods' divine and human, until the time of Swami Dayananda and after.
