In order to understand the meaning, purpose and goal of human life, we need to study these great souls. We need to understand the lives and teachings of these great personalities, who are the source of inspiration to mankind. By emulating them and by following their teachings, we will certainly free ourselves from the mess of confusion and misunderstanding we live in. With this noble intention, the Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad, has set up a beautiful and permanent museum where the oil painting portraits of the great saints are displayed.
This volume contains all those paintings, along with their brief life sketches and inspiring messages for the benefit of larger number of admirers of our heritage and culture.
We shall be failing in our responsibility if we don't acknowledge the untiring efforts of Swami Srikantananda, Director of the Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence, who has whole- heartedly and efficiently worked for this volume from the conception of the museum stage till the publication of this volume.
