One of the basic objectives of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is ot undertake and promote the best of teaching of Sanskrit Language – Aksaypatra – the receptacle and promote the best of Indian culture and heritage.
In pursuance of this objective, Bhavan's Delhi Kendra not only promotes teaching of Sanskrit through its Sri Sankracarya Sanskrit mahavidyalaya, but also organizes from time to time events to promote Sanskrit language and literature, to ensure that the perception that it is a classical language which is dead is corrected and is seen as a living language with its relevance not only to modern India but also to the world philosophy and culture. The National conference on Sanskrit literature – Past and Present is one the landmarks of in a series of steps that Bhavan has taken to promote Sanskrit language.
Through collection of such papers presented in the Conference, we wish to place before the readers the best of past and present to serve as bridge in this direction.
