It is but natural to think that Jnaneshwar Maharaj himself preferred to present the essence of the Sanskrit Gita in Marathi language considering the difficulty of people in understanding the Sanskrit language;if so, then what is the purpose of preparing this Sanskrit version? Is it not contrary to what Jnaneshwar Maharaj did?
My answer is this: One may study many commentaries, glosses and translations of Gita, but study of Jnaneshwari is entirely different as the Jnaneshwari is the only text that is full of figures of speech, full of philosophical discussions and of final doctrines necessary to understand how the Madhuradvaita tradition flourished in India. You don't find all this at one place in any other commentary.
